What are lucid dreams? Lucid dreams are dreams where we become aware of the fact that we are dreaming. But how do we become aware that we're dreaming? since if all we know is the dream we wouldn't be able to know we're dreaming.
Consider the idea that reality is a dream, now why can't we lucid dream as well? well how one enters the state of a lucid dream is to find oneself questioning, looking at oneself, and wondering who we are, and then we sort of unlock a memory where we lived in the real world, and then we distinguish the difference between the dream and the reality.
Now there is an interesting question then, why is the world we see not a dream? Why do we not remember the before "state" of being? well maybe the fact that we are actually not looking into who we are "hard" enough. If we were to truly uncover who we are, perhaps like the memory of the real world, it might then return to us. Or not, but the theory seems valid to me.
Self-questioning opens the door to realizing it's a dream, perhaps self questioning is what opens the door to realizing the true nature of reality.
But lucid dreams themselves are useful to us. Since we can actually use them to test out theories. Since we know that brain activity drops during sleep and we can use lucid dreams to test out the reality of things that way, contemplate. This may be highly useful. It remains to be seen.
